.....and you are not ...the father

It amazes me what passes for entertainment anymore. As I sit here in the student lounge between my classes working on a paper...I can't help but overhear the Maury Povich show that is being watched very enthusiasticly by several students. The theme of this particular episode is single mothers who don't know who the father of their baby is. The premise is that the mothers are getting all of the prospective fathers to talk paternity tests. One of the mothers had 10 guys take paternity tests. The really sad part was that none of the these men where the father. This information was recieved enthusiastically by a warmly applauding audience. The idea that this is entertainment is sickening to me. The idea that our culture is entertained by the sad circumstances of others is pathetic and sad.
