thoughts.....observations

As I sit here comtemplating my existence.......I am not actually doing that it just sounded like a good opening.

I have been thinking about obedience to God and my own freewill. When is my objection to something valid and when it is motivated by my own selfishness. How do I navigate between these two. What brought this up was a discussion of Josh Harris' book "Boy Meets Girl". I am reasonably certain that a lot of you have already read this book. To me a lot of the things that Mr. Harris proposes seem to something akin to the "Taliban Book of Dating". Granted I did not grow up as a christian. I am not sure if my opinions of just selfishness or genuine concern. I believe that his view points are well thought out and born of genuine concern and belief. But I think them a bit extreme. Anyone who has any ideas on this would be appreciated.
