Of Barking Dogs and Uncomfortable Bicycle Seats

Well as usual it's been a while since I posted last. So here is a little update on what's been happening in my world.

Well we have had a couple of lovely chats with some of the people who live around us and it turns out that my dog howls and barks constantly when noboby is here, and apparently this has become quite the nuisance. So tomorrow I will be talking to the vet about barking control collars. I fear that this will lead to my investing in a shock collar, this is not something that I am looking forward to seeing as I remember saying at one point that I would never use such a monstrosity, but oh how time and and new neighbors can change a man. Well it least it will be fun to play with at parties.

The other big news is that Erica and I have both invested in new, old, used bikes and we are planning on riding them a lot more than we we did our old bikes. Erica is planning on eventually riding hers to work, and we are planning to use ours for short trips to the store and such. The only problem is that I haven't really ridden a bike in a few years and well lets just say it's going to take a while to get used to the whole bicycle seat thing.

More good news school is out for the semester and I am pretty sure that I am still on the dean's list. That just leaves summer and fall semester and then I will graduate in December. Then it's off to work and grad school.

Since school has been out I have been reading like a fiend, trying to squeeze in all the stuff I wanted to read while I was in school but didn't the time too.

Current books I have been reading(I can never read only one book at a time}:

1) Seeds of Contemplation by Thomas Merton
2) On Liberty by John Stuart Mill
3) Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis
4) The Coming Catholic Church by David Gibson

I have found that Thomas Merton's writings are just incredible, this book is like one really long, intense prayer, If you haven't read it, you should.

I am still playing drums for he worship band at church, have been off for May and will be picking up again in June, I am really looking forward to it. I have picked up my bass and starting playing it again, since the world seems to be chronically short of bass players, we'll see how that goes.

Well that is all for me right now, hope I didn't bore you too much. Thanks for stopping by....

hi, brian. glad to hear you're picking up the bass, my dad is a bass player, so i'm biased towards the instrument. as far as the barking and training collars, mark and i have both had great success w/ the collars we use now and he can tell you the best kind to get, we spent money on a couple really bad ones in the past. also, my one friend uses barking control collars that emit a squirt of citronella when the dog barks, which supposedly they really hate and her dogs are very well behaved now, she doesn't have to turn them on and they are less bulky than shock collars. but it depends on what all you're needing to use them for. peace out.

Fred - that is actually the store we bought our bikes from.... pretty cool place. Thanks for the offer of the bass, I do actually have one though, I have a '91 Rickenbacker 4003, which I actually had for sale in a shop for about six months but everyone who looked at it said "wow.... a ric.... pretty cool" and then just walked away..... so I decided to bring it back home.... I am kinda glad it didn't sell.
