The Video Speaks for Itself

God help me. I have seen the video of the murder of Nicholas Berg. Any compassion I might have ever had for these people is gone now. As sickened as I was by blurry pictures of Iraqi prisoners being abused, I am outraged by this. There is no call for this. In case anyone was wondering why we were fighting the war on terror, wonder no more.

did you expect anything less?

i don't want to start up a huge political debate, but i have been thinking about your post the last few hours.

do you believe that americans are better people than iraqis?
some of your comments would suggest as much, since you said you have no more compassion towards them.
do you think our soldier's actions are now justified?

when was the last time you saw american combatants publicly executing someone to cause terror, when was the last time you saw american combatants flying airplanes into non-military targets purely to kill civilians, when was the last time

lets flip it...when was the last time you saw a terrorist building a rebuilding a school , or roads, or a hospital.

Yes I would have to say at this point based on the evidence that I do think "we" are better than "they"

sorry had more to say.....first of all these people who did this are not Iraqi, they are self indentified as members and leadership of Al Quieda. I still feel compassion for the Iraqi people. I was sickened by what I say American troops doing in those photos, but can you honestly say that it justifies what happened to Richard Berg. If you can thats a hell of a stretch. Say what ever you like about me or what I believe but as far as I am concerned these people(the terrorists) should be hunted down and killed like dogs.( yes I am that angry about this) Similarly The Americans who participated in the abuses in the prison should face the most harsh punishment the Military court can hand out.

i never said what we did was justified because of what they did.

i asked you if you thought it was justified?

i just wanted clarification because you said you had no more compassion...i wondered if you meant the entire iraqi population.

sorry.....I just feel particulary passionate about this....... I know you well enough to know it wasn't an attack... I guess this is just a really touchy subject for me.....my apologies.

I agree with your comments Brian. I do have compassion for the Iraqi people, that is the reason we are there in the first place to liberate and make a better Iraqi for those who have suffered for the last 35+ years.

The compassion meter for these Al Quada and Bath party loyalist to Saddam has ran out of sand long ago. The difference in treatment is striking. There guys wake up in the morning able to thank allah for another day. Nick Berg and 3000+ on 9/11, and the thousands of killed and injured in Madrid, Daniel Pearl, Kolbalt Towers, the USS Cole these folks din't have another day to thank their God...
